My 'No Use' Credo - For Real This Time

The ‘I have no use for credo:’ (listen to some epic music while reading this)

I have no use for a religion that does not practice equality.
I have no use for a religion that purposely hides information regarding its own history from its members.
I have no use for a religion that looks down on women in the work-field and men who stay at home.
I have no use for a religion that says homosexuality is a perversion.
I have no use for a religion that has leaders in the present who are in complete contradiction to leaders of the past, and yet says that they always speak for God.
I have no use for a religion that says you must pay tithing to avoid being burned when Jesus comes back.
I have no use for a religion that requires you to believe specific things that there is no proof for.
I have no use for a religion that says being ‘intelligent’ and ‘learned’ is a bad thing.
I have no use for a religion that only has men in the power seats.
I have no use for a religion that can nurture fanatics who believe it is their god’s command to kill unbelievers and those of opposing belief systems.
I have no use for a religion that equates atheism with Satanism.
I have no use for a religion that is obsessed with women being virgins.
I have no use for a religion that says no one outside of their specific group can come to know god.
I have no use for a religion that tells me I should be perfect and any failures are sinful.
I have no use for a religion that nurtures feelings of guilt and shame.
I have no use for a religion that hates magic but believes in miracles.
I have no use for a religion that mutilates children’s genitals.
I have no use for a religion that teaches that evolution is a lie.
I have no use for a religion that teaches its followers to distrust the government.
I have no use for a religion that protects its priests when they were caught abusing children.
I have no use for a religion that teaches that the more righteous you are the more 'white' you become, and the more wicked you are the more likely you will be cursed to become 'black.'
I have no use for a religion that says masturbation is evil.

I have no use for a god who says to kill those of different cultures or lineage.
I have use for a god who writes a book like the Bible or Qur’an.
I have no use for a god who says sex before marriage is near unto murder in seriousness.
I have no use for a god who says stealing a pack of gum and killing children are they same before him because they are both sins.
I have no use for a god who only speaks to men in the middle of the fuc*** desert.
I have no use for a god who wants us to know 'him' but then plays hide and seek.
I have no use for a god who professes love but then teaches an everlasting hell.
I have no use for a god who is okay with slavery but not homosexuality.
I have no use for a god who teaches to love him and hate your family if a choice must be made.
I have no use for a god who can’t make the human body correctly in the first place.
I have no use for a god who tells his chosen people to not steal or murder, but then says to wipe out a whole civilization except for virgin women and to take all their possessions.
I have no use for a god who professes to control the weather when so many needless deaths of innocents are caused by natural disasters.
I have no use for a god who gives me a sex drive but says not to touch myself and wait till I’m married, after a two-year mission, and most likely after college, making me 25+ and out of my most horny period of my life.
I have no use for a god who tells me how to conduct my sex life with consenting adults.

I have no use for a holy text wherein a character offers his daughters to be raped instead of angels.
I have no use for a holy text wherein a woman who is raped is then cut up into several pieces and sent out to different tribes.
I have no use for a holy text that can make believers rise up and kill other people for disagreeing with them about who their god is or what that god wants them to do in their lives.
I have no use for a holy text that says the earth is flat, that the sun rotates around the earth, or that the sun is closer to the earth than the moon.

I have no use for a god/religion/or holy text that teaches that I cannot be a good and moral person without a deity in my life.
I have no use for a god/religion/or holy text that teaches its followers to hate me because I am different from them.
I have no use for a god/religion/or holy text that teaches its followers to hate me because I do not believe in god.

And then let me clarify a point before I seem to dogmatic or militant: there are plenty of good things that have come from religions, beliefs in gods, and (w)holy texts, but I think it is time we move on, and I think the world can move on. It make take a few generations for the whole process, and a belief in the supernatural will never die off in my opinion, but it is time to rid ourselves of the things that have made our history bloody and horrid.
This is my credo, this is another reason why I am an atheist.

  1. Excellent!

I have no use for any religion that makes use of fear, manipulation and guilt. Spiritually can not exist within any context of such things. Thus, it appears that spiritually has nothing to do with religion. And since one doesn't need to have a belief in the supernatural gods to be spiritual, that is why I'm an atheist.

  4. That is awesome! Much agreed friend. However, weak and simple-minded people do have a use for it. They been institushonalised in a large way. That's most of society.

  6. Yay, thank you for all the love. The idea to write this came to me, and i mulled over it for a couple days before i wrote it up then posted it on my blog.

I've actually been adding to it since then, and will probably re-edit the whole thing. I've also added some of the ones posted by others.
